Short Description:

Need experienced hard working assistant to handle routine matters? Look no further, 30+ years as an assistant, type 100+ wpm with accuracy. Jack of all trades and master of few. Enjoy helping others and love challenges.

Long Description:

I am a self-trained computer savvy assistant with over 30 years experience in the general and legal fields. I am proficient in Word, Word Perfect and law related software. I am familiar with many other programs, though I am not as proficient in other programs as I am with Word and Word Perfect.

For nearly 20 years I was an administrative assistant for a U. S. government agency. I voluntarily took a cut in 1994 when the government downsized. For the last 10+ years I have been a legal assistant and enjoy that field tremendously. I operate office equipment of all types routinely and with ease. I am familiar with many of the troubleshooting methods often required to assist some office equipment to operate properly and efficiently and am not afraid to resort to troubleshooting methods when necessary.

My communication skills are excellent, both written and oral. I am detail oriented and very concerned about accuracy. I am a self-starter and trained myself in the use of a computer as a young gal. I am organized, detail oriented and possess the skills required to plan and follow projects through to their swift and accurate completion. I do not fluster easily and work well under pressure.

I obtained my Bachelor of Arts degree at a local university after 27 years of taking one or two courses at a time as I could fit them into my busy schedule. I originally intended to pursue law school but was unexpectedly stricken with bacterial meningitis just before I obtained my B.A. in 2000. Following that I developed a rare form of cancer that has been in remission since 2006. I am happy to be alive and no longer have the desire to further my education.

I am results-driven, accomplished, highly motivated and capable of handling wide ranges of secretarial, administrative and paralegal functions. I produce top-quality work in as short a time as possible. I accurately type at over 100 wpm and still take dictation at over 100 wpm as well. I interact well with the public, clients, managers, and co-workers. I am a team player and am interested in the good of the team. I prioritize tasks and meet deadlines daily in my business and personal life. I possess the reputation for being a conscientious hard-working employee. I am loyal, reliable, enthusiastic, flexible and always ready for new challenges.

I have traveled the state handling meetings for the government. I have coordinated travel plans and arrangements for myself, my co-workers and my superiors. I am able to compose and type correspondence, documents and orders with or without direction. I work with the public on a daily basis and meet with and assist clients regularly. I have done some limited desk top publishing (brochures, newsletters, etc.) and am proficient at shorthand and electronic transcription. I formerly assisted with a small family business (which included some billing preparation).

I have had occasions to do some public speaking (which I thoroughly enjoy). I am very outgoing and love interacting with people and have a great sense of humor. I have a broad spectrum of experience though I am always willing to learn new things and further expand my fields of expertise.

I am married and have two grown sons and three marvelous grandchildren. I come from a large family and I love spending my spare time with family and friends. I have a very positive outlook on life and try to live my life one day at a time instead of in the fast lane as I once did.

I love planning parties, celebrations and weddings and have successfully planned and coordinated several events on very limited budgets though others never knew just how small the bugets actually were. I can stretch a dollar like no one I know and still end up with a marvelous end result.

I take pride in my ability to always do my best and am sure I would be a great asset to your organization. I take direction well and am a quick learner. I am fully capable of leading and am more than happy to lead when called upon to do so but I do not need to lead. I am happy being a follower and taking directions from others.
