My business is as a Virtual Assistant, providing secretarial services to a range of clients working from home. I have 20 years experience in the administration field, ranging from Receptionist to Personal Assistant at Director level.
The role of a Virtual Assistant has many advantages for a business. A number of advantages are financial, as the client employing the services of a VA is not liable for NIC, PAYE or pensions costs. They pay solely for the work carried out and this provides cost effectiveness for the client, be it on a one-off job or regular assignments.
Other advantages include handling confidential information, during periods where extra staff may be needed, for example on specific projects, but resources or space are restricted for the client. The main advantage would be for sole traders, growing their own business, as during this time, time and effort are best used to increase their own business and administration time is restricted. Employing the services of a VA means that a client can divert telephones during business meetings, have calls filtered so that they only get the calls they want, administration is handled by the VA, therefore freeing up valuable time to grow their own business.
