1.Politicians,businessmen,managers,officials, professionals, all require to make speeches.Many people are extremely uncomfortable speaking in public and try to avoid it as far as possible.When they speak under compelling circumstances they often fail to convey the desired message. Even those who are willing public speakers are unable to make the desired impact.

A speech is prepared keeping the subject, occasion and target audience in mind.A well structured speech not only leaves an impact on the audience but also enhances the personality of the speaker. The opening lines, the closing,the tone and tenor of the speech,the intonation, the pauses ,humour can all be effectively used to convey a message and leave a desired impact on the audience.

I have been associated with public speaking since my student days, representing my school college and university in debates and speech competitions. I was declared the Best Debator of Gauhati University in 1984-85. In my professional life as a senior officer in one of India,s largest PSUs I have long experience in public speaking. I am fully aware that public speaking is an art which can be developed.
